September 15th Topic: Solidarity for Communities of Color: What does it really look like?
This event is supported by the
Shaw Neighborhood Improvement Association
We are a school community committed to developing an antibias and anti-racist (ABAR) institution.
In order to to move forward in our efforts in becoming ABAR-centered, we strive to provide meaningful educational experiences for children and adults in our neighborhood.
We seek to cultivate a common language, collective understanding of biases, prejudices, and recognition of systemic inequities. Our goal as community members is that each of us develops understanding of our racial identities as well as awareness of privilege and oppression. Additionally, with increased understanding, we can begin to dismantle racism and create communities in which all people have access to freedom and opportunity.
It is in our purposeful design that these conversations will foster a sense of community and accountability in our school and in our neighborhoods.
