Mr. Bob Busby, City Garden’s Outdoor Education and Science Specialist, is working with 3rd and 5th year students in science. He will be pulling out small groups from each teacher’s class to build on the current science experiences using STEM based lessons. This is the first year for this program. He is meeting the groups for 15 days per cycle. The goal is to meet each group twice a semester. Please feel free to contact Mr. Busby with any questions or concerns at email@example.com. In addition, he is looking for a few things…..Elmer’s glue, baking soda, zip lock bags, test tubes, food coloring, stop watches, or any other scientific donation. Thank you!
Mr. Busby is working with all Pre-K through Junior High students in Outdoor Education, as well. He has activities and curriculum to use for Pre-K, K, and Lower Elementary students. There will be times where the youngest Green Thumbs will help in the gardens! The Upper Elementary students will be working on various needs to prepare our school environment to look beautiful and function on a day to day basis, for example: recycling, composting, cleaning the school ground from trash and random lying around objects, watering plants, etc. He will split the Upper Elementary time with some “work” and some play. The play will be based on various traditional outdoor games/activities and some new ones that he’s come across. On occasions, he will give Upper Elementary some science that looks into the most important parts of our lives….clean water, air, and soil. The Junior High will be doing similar lessons as the Upper Elementary students, but they will be working on 2-3 projects that they craft. The constructed craft project will become an item that they can use for Junior High fundraising opportunities or auction off at this year’s Gala. He is in need of contacts and/or materials for making bird houses and bat houses. He has the blue prints for each house, but is in need of wood, wood glue, nails, saws, etc. Please and thank you! Feel free to contact Mr. Busby at firstname.lastname@example.org.
