Guide to Applying to City Garden Montessori Charter School

City Garden is currently enrolling children entering kindergarten for the 2010-2011 school year. We are currently only accepting applications from students who reside within our target geographic area, which is the land area within the following street boundaries: Grand to the east, Kingshighway to the west, Highway 64/40 to the north and Magnolia Avenue to the south.

The application deadline for incoming kindergarten-aged children is Friday, February 12, 2010.  Please have your application and all necessary documents submitted by 3:00 p.m. on that date.

You are welcome to submit an application after these deadlines; however, your application will be added to a lottery pool. A weekly lottery will be held whenever spaces become available.

If you would like to apply for to City Garden Montessori Charter School, please follow these Enrollment Procedures:

1.    Visit City Garden Montessori School.
2.    Meet with the Director or an Associate of City Garden Montessori School.
3.    Schedule a classroom experience for your child at City Garden Montessori Charter School.
4.    Submit a completed Application Form.
5.    Submit all required documentation:
•    An official birth certificate
•    Current immunization records
•    Two documents showing proof of residence, i.e., utility bills, a mortgage statement, lease, state identification

The school will make copies of these documents and return originals as soon as possible.

Timeline:

October 1, 2009 – February 12, 2010: “Open enrollment” period. CGMCS will be accepting applications for students who reside within its target area. The target area for CGMCS rests within the following land area: Grand to the east, Kingshighway to the west, Magnolia Avenue to the south and Highway 64/40 to the north.

February 12, 2010: Open enrollment ends. All documentation must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. on this date—NO EXCEPTIONS.

February 16, 2010: Lottery to be held if necessary. Accepted students are notified within three days.

All students who are accepted for enrollment will have two weeks to respond to let CGMCS know that they will indeed attend the school in 2010-2011.

If all spaces have not been filled by February 16, 2010, CGMCS will continue to accept applications from students residing in the target area on a weekly basis. The weekly deadline will be Friday at 3:00 p.m.; a lottery, if needed, will be held on the following Tuesday.

Second Open Enrollment Period

If all spaces are not filled by March 26, 2010, CGMCS will hold a second open enrollment period from March 29, 2010 through April 16, 2010, which will be open to students residing in the expanded target area which encompasses the following land area:  Compton to the east, Kingshighway to the west, Chippewa/Gravois to the south and Highway 64/40 to the north.

 

April 16, 2010: Open enrollment ends. All documentation must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. on this date—NO EXCEPTIONS.

April 20, 2010: Lottery to be held if necessary.  Accepted students are notified within three days.

 

All students who are accepted for enrollment will have two weeks to respond to let CGMCS know that they will indeed attend the school in 2010-2011.

Third Open Enrollment Period

If all spaces are not filled by June 4, 2010, CGMCS will hold a third open enrollment period from June 7, 2010 to June 18, 2010 which will be open to students residing in the City of St. Louis south of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.

 

June 18, 2010: Open enrollment ends. All documentation must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. on this date—NO EXCEPTIONS.

June 22, 2010: Lottery to be held if necessary. Accepted students are notified within three days.

All students who are accepted for enrollment will have two weeks to respond to let CGMCS know that they will indeed attend the school in 2010-2011.

CGMCS shall not base admissions upon the race, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship, disability, gender, income level, proficiency in English or athletic ability of the students or the parents or guardians, nor will students’ prior academic or behavioral records be considered.
